Spreading our wings with Wing Nights around Ithaca

May 2, 2013

This week, 14850 Dining is spreading its wings and flying around town for the various wing nights in the Ithaca area. Even though wings require a lot of effort for the food you get compared to most finger food, they're awfully popular -- and we've got some great wing places in town.

What's more fun than eating wings? Eating a whole pile of wings for a great price! Lots of area wingeries have one night a week that's a special deal.

We'll start the week on Monday, when Kilpatrick's offers 50-cent wings in the heart of Downtown Ithaca. Not far away is Napoli Pizzeria, which you may already know for their great pizza, but they also have what we think are the best wings in Ithaca. Also on Monday is wing night at Loco Cantina in Collegetown, with 25-cent wings.

Tuesday night is a real winner, with wing night at both Rogues Harbor in Lansing and Bandwagon Brewpub in Downtown Ithaca, both of which brew their own beer. Rogues has excellent wings that go beautifully with their Cayuga Cream Ale. Bandwagon gets creative, with brown butter sesame sriracha wings, or bacon bourbon molasses wings, and they've mixed things up by offering frog's legs in wing sauces.

On Thursdays, pop up to the Dryden Hotel, which offers all-you-can-eat wings plus two pints of beer or two sodas for $12.95. They're good wings, too.

Buffalo Wild Wings in Ithaca's southwest has two wing nights, discounted wings on Tuesdays and so-called "boneless wings," or chicken tenders, on Thursdays, along with a huge variety of sauces.

And every night is wing night at the Scale House Brewpub in the Small Mall. Two pints of their house beers and a dozen wings are $9.99.

We've also got to mention Wings Over Ithaca, which delivers wings and boneless wings late into the night, and offers an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet on Thursdays and Fridays.

Not into chicken? That's OK. There are tofu "wings" at two places in town we know of -- Northstar Public House in Fall Creek, and Jack's Grill in Collegetown.

Who'd we miss? Let us know on Facebook or Twitter, or comment below. Now get out there, enjoy some wings, and tell them you heard about them here.
