This week, we have more food events to talk about! Even as the Ithaca Taste of the Nation Chef's Night Out series continues, raising money for food education, the Healthy Food for All series wraps up, and the Cornell Hotel School kicks off its educational dinner series paired with local wine and beer.
Stick and Stone Farm, site of a recent Healthy Food for All harvest dinner. There's one dinner left in Healthy Food for All, a series of fundraiser dinners set at area farms, complete with farm tours and local ingredients. Proceeds help offer reduced-cost CSA farm shares to low-income community members, as well as free nutrition and cooking classes to help them learn what to do with the fresh produce they're getting. That last dinner is Sunday, November 14th at West Haven Farm, featuring dishes prepared by Jennifer Irwin and Stan Walton from Just a Taste. Find out more at healthyfoodforall.org.
Beginning November 2nd it's the educational dinner series at Taverna Banfi at the Statler Hotel, run by students from the Cornell Hotel School's restaurant management course. On November 2nd, it's the Red Newt Culinary Bounty dinner, a four-course meal collaborating with Debra Whiting from Red Newt Bistro, paired with wines from Red Newt Winery.
November 12th and December 1st, Banfi features an Ithaca Beer Dinner, pairing local beer with hors d'oeuvres followed by a three-course Italian dinner. And November 16th and 17th, it's the Hermann J.
