City will reopen Clinton Street bridge for Ithaca College commencement weekend

The City of Ithaca says the Clinton Street bridge, which is closed to westbound traffic until August, will be reopened this weekend to accommodate the increase in traffic from visitors to Ithaca College for its commencement weekend. The bridge's westbound lane will reopen at 3pm this Friday and close again at 8am Monday morning.

I-81 near Harrisburg closed through the weekend after fiery truck crash

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation warns that Interstate 81 near Harrisburg will be closed for a few days following a fiery crash of a diesel tanker truck on Thursday. PennDOT says I-81 will be closed through the capital region until at least Monday.

I-81 is closed in both directions from Exit 59 to Exit 70 while a bridge that sustained heavy damage in the truck crash is removed. PennDOT hopes to reopen the highway on Monday.

Area residents who bike to work or school on May 16th, the local Bike-to-Work Day as part of National Bike Month, will be treated to breakfast courtesy of several Ithaca-area organizations. Breakfast stations will be available around Downtown Ithaca and Fall Creek, on the Cornell University and Ithaca College campuses, near the airport, and at the foot of West Hill.

The Ithaca Fire Department says a driver was airlifted to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse after crashing into a house on Trumansburg Road this morning. IFD and Bangs Ambulance arrived on the scene shortly after the crash was reported just before 9am Thursday.
