Quirky pizza and funky decor at Ithaca's new Felicia's Atomic Lounge

"A lounge is for lounging," says Felicia's philosophy, and right they are. The funky decor, with metal panels, velvet couches, neon signs, and typography reminiscent of a Jetsons episode, complete the image. It's a great makeover from the place's last incarnation as Enuwan, an oyster bar that became just a bar before we managed to pay a visit.

On the menu when we visited last week were personal-sized flatbread pizzas, salad, and homemade apple pie. We sampled two of the four pizzas, a fig tapenade pizza with goat cheese, and another with apples, walnuts, caramelized onions, and both cheddar and feta. The two flatbread pizzas were just the right amount of food for two people, leaving just enough room to split a slice of pie for dessert.

The salad, which we didn't try, includes mixed greens with such add-ons as sundried tomatoes, roasted red peppers, and calamata olives. Obviously, Felicia's caters well to vegetarians, and vegans will be just fine if they ask for their pizza or salad with no cheese.

I can definitely see these quirky and flavorful flatbread pizzas going well with one of the Atomic Lounge's signature martinis, such as the dirty girl martini, Belvedere vodka with olive juice, or the key lime-tini, Stoli vanilla with lime juice and Sprite. The bartenders were also making lots of pumpkin martinis that night.

But the savory pizzas also went exceptionally well with Felicia's fine selection of beer on tap. Ithaca Beer's outstanding Ithaca Flower Power IPA is there, as well as the seasonal Sam Adams Octoberfest, Guinness Stout, and Otter Creek's Stovepipe Porter.
